Just caught Planet Hulk on Netflix Steaming, last night, I wasn’t expecting anything, but was pleased with the approach to this Hulk with red eyes, this one goes way back to 2010. I do try to see every new one of these DVD’s of Animation when they make them, more and more large studios are creating some unique stories with Comic Book heroes, et al.
In this one Hulk is sent off Earth by Iron Man and the like, but foils their odd little plan to put Hulk on a ‘Disney’ like planet instead the Hulk crash lands on a distant alien planet known as, Sakaar. Just so happens they have a Savior Mythos, and guess who shows up. Hulk is pleasantly non-plussed here, he’s green, big but his eyes are Red. He doesn’t really fit or belong with the other Heroes in his crew.
The ‘crew’ for Planet Hulk are fairly interesting, however, and of course The Hulk prevails… and in the end he even kisses his sweetheart. When later in Planet Hulk the ‘Horse Faced Thor’ after being defeated by The Hulk, says he can take Hulk home to Earth… Hulk then replies that Earth is not my home!
Hulk is best as a ‘World Leader’ you might say, and Sakaar sounds to me like a world Hulk could really take to.
I liked the adult tone to Planet Hulk…
